Consultation and Reading Group
This series of six closed meetings offers pre-licensed and licensed therapists a safe and confidential place to get help with difficult cases, discuss professional challenges, and explore new ways to approach clients. The instructors will provide participants with tools to cultivate a foundational understanding of various psychoanalytic theories.
Time: Fridays 9:00—10:30 am
Dates: Six weekly sessions
October 19 & 26, November 2, 9, 16 & 30, 2018 (No meeting Thanksgiving weekend)
Location: Irvine/Newport Beach area, near John Wayne Airport
Fee: $30 per session (prepaid in full, 6 sessions for $180)
CEs Available – $10
At the conclusion group members will be able to:
• Discern differences between psychotherapy and psychoanalysis
• Discuss cases from different psychoanalytic perspectives
• Identify Transference/Countertransference issues
• Recognize clinical dilemmas and boundary issues
• Gain confidence exploring Psychoanalytic literature
• Listen for unconscious and conscious aspects of experience
• Demonstrate a basic understanding of the benefits of dream work
• Engage in processing and examining the therapeutic relationship from a psychoanalytic perspective
• Apply psychoanalytic thought to clinical work
Instructors:
Dr. Judy Chamberlin is a psychotherapist/psychoanalyst in private practice working with adolescent and adult individuals, couples and families from a relational perspective.
Dr. Roberta Knox is a psychotherapist/psychoanalyst in private practice working with adult, pre-teen, and adolescent individuals, families and couples of all kinds.
